Umass_Amherst
As some of you may know, there is a UMass-Amherst community for creating opportunities for snarking. If you don't know what I'm talking about, worry about it, a lot.

If you do know what I'm talking about, I have two thoughts on this community. First, it's actually pretty pathetic. Second, it's where the dummies go. The morans go there. They do not go here, except to be mocked, chastised, and humiliated. In the past, I have been 100% sure to make snarky posts. Free speech and all that. Now, if you want to brainwash people into becoming UMMBers, bitch about people typing loudly, spam about Umass Sports, or allow Haven posts that have nothing to do with Umass whatsoever yet snark posts are off-topic, you know where to go, and it's not here.

Your cooperation can get fucked.

I must say, the Haven spam does irritate me greatly.

What about it irritates you? The frequency or the content? I haven't actually gotten any thought out complaints about it. All I get are "grr, Haven spam bad, grumble, grrr."

A little of both. I like some of the bands they have sometimes, so I'm not against Haven itself necessarily. I just think a lot of the ads are stupid, though that's simply a matter of personal taste that I won't delve into.

As for the frequency, well, it's not the frequency so much as the fact it's just spam. If I cared about announcements from Haven I'd add them to my friends list and leave it at that. Now, I'm not saying they should be banned from posting to umass_amherst. It makes sense to allow it just as much as it makes sense to allow any other announcements of social events in the area. But that doesn't stop me from being annoyed by it. It would help if Livejournal allowed filtering out community posts by specific users--then there'd be no problem. As it is, there's no way to "opt out" so to speak.

I'm not saying the problem needs to be solved or anything. I'm just going "grr, Haven spam bad, grumble, grrr" after all. But hopefully that helps explains why.

"Morans?" As in Virginia Rep John Moran?

I do not think that word means what you think it means.
